Such A Shame
04:32
|
|||
Your eyes can't see beyond you
A Gaussian blur opaque
Looking beyond is beyond you
Trusting you a mistake
Help is needed, none is given
Your reasoning in doubt
No time taken, none is given
Official roundabout
People under, under the water
Cries wash over, over your ears
Empty gestures fly like jesters
Cold and toxic, where's humanity?
Such a shame you really can't see the best in me
It's such a shame
And it's killing me
It's such a shame you've no time to invest in me
It's such a shame
First world problems concern you
Basking in your comfortable life
Sitting in chambers and palaces
I hear rhetoric and lies
Doing nothing, saying nothing
Contributing zero
Smearing someone, shooting something
You're no superhero
Such a shame you really can't see the best in me
It's such a shame
And it's killing me
It's such a shame you've no time to invest in me
It's such a shame
Such a shame you really can't see the best in me
It's such a shame
And it's killing me
It's such a shame you've no time to invest in me
It's such a shame
And it's such a shame you really can't see the best in me
It's such a shame
It's such a shame you've no time to invest in me
It's such a shame
But it's over now

On Diego Garcia
03:29
|
|||
Next stop the Chagos islands
The stolen bijou island paradise
Perfect location for dogs of war
A national disgrace and a crime to deplore
It's just a standard descent into fetid pits
Savage conduct from duplicitous Brits
Blair conspired with Liz Winter in a villainous lair
Condemned Diego Garcians to eternal despair
Cast adrift towards hostile shores
To find life has no meaning anymore
Acute sadness eats into me
And the keening souls
Weeping deep into the abyss of your design
That's what you get when you're Diego Garcian
It's truly obscene
Cast adrift towards hostile shores
To find life has no meaning anymore
Acute sadness eats into me
And the keening souls
Weeping deep into the abyss of your design
That's what you get when you're Diego Garcian
Did I mention they gassed our dogs?
What kind of monster conjures up such jobs?
They replaced plants and people with tanks and bombs
Brass wankers with feigned toffee accents rubber stamped these wrongs
Two-faced swine flogging lame platitudes
The quiddity of barbarism in a Savile Row suit
Foreign Office ghoul reckons it's just fine
Maintaining the fiction, sustaining the lie
Maintaining the fiction, sustaining the lie
Maintaining the fiction, sustaining the lie
Maintaining the fiction
Sustaining, maintaining, sustaining the fiction and the lies
That's what you get when you're Diego Garcian
That's what you get when you're Diego Garcian

A New Dawn
04:01
|
|||
Do you feel a little restless tonight?
Wrapped up in a dark place
Waiting for a light to shine
Standing on the inside looking out
Bailing out your lifeboat
Hoping for the tide to turn
A new dawn, another shoreline
Is waiting for you
A new dawn, another shoreline
So what will you do?
A new dawn, another shoreline
Waiting for you
A new dawn, another shoreline
Waiting
Do you feel a bit more hopeful today?
Wake up in the sunshine
A smile and an open hand
And of course there is a cost
For nothing ventured, nothing lost
Is that who you want to be?
Would you rather never see
A new dawn, another shoreline
Is waiting for you
A new dawn, another shoreline
So what will you do?
A new dawn, another shoreline
Waiting for you
A new dawn, another shoreline
You're a long time dead
You're a long time dead
You're a long time dead
You're a long time dead
A new dawn, another shoreline
A new dawn, another shoreline
A new dawn, another shoreline
A new dawn, another shoreline

Hourglass
04:14
|
|||
Another friend, another coffin
Another step toward the unknown
Left behind, piecing together
Opening boxes of things long forgotten
Dust on my hands
Tears in my eyes
Dust on my hands
Fear's in my eyes
Dust on my hands
'Time takes the witnesses who share our story'
Can't be happy
Just can't be happy
Can't be happy
Just can't be happy
Can't be happy
Just can't be happy
Dust on my hands
Time ticks another tock
And makes a new tomorrow
'Til the clock slips another cog
And the time you're on is borrowed
No regrets
No stepping backwards
I've come this far
Further than my brother
The future's there for the taking
Do it now
Waiting is no option
Dust on my hands
Tears in my eyes
Dust on my hands
Fears pushed aside
Fears pushed aside
Time ticks another tock
And makes a new tomorrow
'Til the clock slips another cog
And the time you're on is borrowed
Time drips another drop
The second seems to linger
As the sand from the hourglass
Is running through your fingers
Another day, another chance
Another choice to make a difference
'Time grinds diamonds into sand
And that sand fills another hourglass'
Time ticks another tock
And makes a new tomorrow
'Til the clock slips another cog
And the time you're on is borrowed
Time drips another drop
The seconds seem to linger
As the sand from the hourglass
Is running through your fingers
Running through your fingers
Is running through your fingers

The Price Of Admission
04:20
|
|||
Your future was written by sticks in the dirt
Til they made a bonfire of all of those words
It's unbelievable
Almost inconceivable
When you're lying here cold on the floor
The life that you ordered just never arrived

Feels Like Rain
04:15
|
|||
As the leaves turn to log fire red
Sunlight more precious by the day
Grey green dry stone
A dull and cloudy sky
It feels like rain
The wind tears right through you
It splits you in two
I'm old and getting colder
Got holes in my shoes
Traffic with tempers
A heart full of shame
Standing at the kirbside
I wish for a change
It feels like rain
An ill will tears through you
It splits you in two
Eating or heating
Sipping soupstone stew
Counting out the penny
There's nothing coming in
It feels like rain
As my thoughts return again to finding rent
Black mould creeping up the crumbling walls
Too much pressure
Battle lines are drawn
It feels like rain
Ill will tears through you
Laughing at you
The callous getting colder
I don't care for you
Queuing for the foodbank
Chewing swallowed pride
Their gravy train just passed me by
It feels like rain

Early morning thinking process
Like a motorised printing press
Those tiny thoughts that you tried to suppress
The castles in Spain
Broken links in a chain
Washed up on the beach
Just out of reach
Just out of reach
Doubts are falling at monsoon strength
Ties your noose at a shorter length
You're saying things that you never meant
The castles of Spain
Broken links in a chain
Washed up on the beach
Just out of reach
Just out of reach
Building castles in Spain
Broken links in a chain
I guess it's hard to explain
Maybe if I could make a plan?
Stop the problems before they began?
Walk before I ran
Building castles in Spain
Chalk pavement pictures in the rain
Building castles in Spain
Chalk pavement pictures in the rain

Waiting
03:51
|
|||
Psychotic, despotic
Oppressive, cruel, severe
Neurotic, demonic
Death deal profiteers
Which maniac this time?
Which fingers twitch?
Which maniac this time?
Which finger?
In the shadows
Hiding their true course
Always, yes always
Flogging a dead horse
Which maniac this time?
Which fingers twitch?
Which maniac this time?
Which finger?
Here we are again, waiting
Here we are again, waiting
Pushing forwards
Always backward
No empathy nor wisdom here
Annihilation
All we know is fear
Which maniac this time?
Which fingers twitch?
Which maniac this time?
Which finger?

The Atmosphere
07:06
|
|||
Something in the air
Something on my mind
Something coming fast
Sense is hard to find
All the kings horses and all the kings men
Couldn't put the weather together again
Something in the air
Sounds like I don't care
All the kings horses and all the kings men
Couldn't put the weather together again
And I can't breathe
I can see
I can feel
Fear
This is the atmosphere
This is the atmosphere
Shutting down dissent
Breaking up the voice
Cutting up the contract
Troops have been deployed
All the kings horses and all the kings men
Couldn't put the weather together again
I can't breathe
I can see
I can feel
Fear
This is the atmosphere
This is the atmosphere
I saw the four horses arriving
As I wiped the dust from my face
So I raised a glass to the horsemen, said
'I like what you've done with the place'
Carbon offset failed
Extinction Rebellion failed
Rebellion failed
Rebellion failed
Rebellion failed
Extinction...
It's in the atmosphere
It's in the atmosphere
It's in the atmosphere
There will be no reruns
I repeat
There will be no reruns
No one's listening
No one listens
Our world's shut down
Burnt down
Burnt down
World shut down

The world turns on kaleidoscope wheels
You never ask how the butterfly feels
The world turns on kaleidoscope wheels
You never ask how the butterfly feels
The world turns on kaleidoscope wheels

The world turns on kaleidoscope wheels
Turns on kaleidoscope wheels
